Paris Mens Fashion Week : Damir Doma : RTW Fall 2010

Graduating in 2004, German designer Damir Doma relocated to Antwerp to work with Ann Demeulemeester and Raf Simons, followed by an inevitable arrival on the high-fashion runway (in 2007). Damir Doma has since been a designer to watch, and with good reason. Doma’s aesthetic is timeless and effortless, such that is expected from a fashion veteran.

Doma’s Mens RTW 2010 collection reiterates his timeless style, with lashing of cultural costume references. The collection is bold, yet restrained, with brooding soft tailoring and over-sized volumes. Silhouettes are reminiscent of robing, or nomadic garments. Hoods are giant and draped, in fact everything is draped or wrapped. Jackets are more like mutated kimono or dressing gowns, almost too big to wear but could be almost be lived in.
